Decent Chair but bad experience with Amazon on this one : Baxton Studio Atticus Black-Brown Faux Leather Modern Club Chair
I am a long-time Amazon user and picked this chair partly because of the price and partly because it had free shipping and was due to arrive from Amazon which has usually yielded me great experiences. They did ship it quickly and I was impressed with that. I was really surprised to see the packaging as Amazon has always been great about that too. This chair came in a poorly made cardboard box with so little tape that the box was coming open on all sides, especially on the top. The chair had only a thin styrofoam covering for packing. Luckily the chair came through that fine was was completely undamaged and exactly what I wanted. Then I realize there are no legs and no hardware in the package. There were a couple of pages of simple instructions which showed the missing hardware and legs but had no contact information for the manufacturer.
I used the link on Amazon to inform them about the poor packing and the missing equipment which was either left out or fell out due to poor packaging. Then I searched and searched for a way to contact Baxon Studio directly and see about getting the missing legs. I could not find any contact info except a way to reach them if you bought through Ebay and an international number that would be too expensive to call.
I went back to Amazon and clicked on the section for "missing parts." The steps instruct me on re-packing the entire item and sending it BACK to Amazon so they can replace the entire chair (and legs) with a new one. This chair is large and the box is in terrible shape. It is crazy for me to have to send them back a whole chair just to get the legs. Also, the chair arrived in great condition and the replacement might not.
I then contacted Amazon via e-mail ask if there was any other way to resolve this. It has now been a week and I have receive no response whatsoever from Amazon. Nothing. I am sincerely disappointed and unless I do hear from Amazon with a solution I probably will not buy other large items from Amazon after this experience. In the meantime, I have a nice chair with no legs. Thanks, Amazon.
I also would not recommend that anyone else buy large items from Amazon and especially not anything from Baxton Studios as there is apparently no support for you short of returning it.
